Duncan Lewis is delighted to welcome Renu Daly into the fold this month. Previously, Renu was Head of Legal Services at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, where she developed a robust practical knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures, together with a strong understanding of the investigative process after seeing hospital errors and failings first hand. She also spent four years at Hudgell Solicitors and has more than eleven years of solid experience and extensive practice as a clinical negligence and abuse solicitor representing clients nationwide. Her frequently high profile cases involve misdiagnosis, mis-prescription of drugs, failure to treat in a timely manner, failure to correctly consent, surgical errors and fatalities. The injuries to the patients have included adult and child brain injury (cerebral palsy), birth injuries to mother and child, obstetrics, sepsis, meningitis, gastrointestinal and hepatic injury, amputation, oncology, cauda equina, adverse drug reaction, cardiac injury and pharmaceutical and ophthalmology cases. We are delighted to say that Renu has decided Duncan Lewis is the right place for her to apply her vast experience and develop her skillset. Renu said: “Duncan Lewis’ commitment to its team and to customer care made it the perfect fit for me and I’m excited about joining the team, delivering the superb service it is known for and making sure everybody hears about its great work.” Renu previously spearheaded the creation and implementation of an abuse department and worked closely with her PR and marketing team to gain widespread coverage of her call for a public inquiry into the practices at Addenbrookes Hospital after Doctor Myles Bradbury (a paedophile) was convicted of abusing patients. She has hosted numerous press conferences and interviews on ITV, BBC, Channel 5 and Channel 4 for many of her clients to expose medical failings, provide public awareness and support the prevention of these errors reoccurring. Renu will work alongside clinical negligence director Rebecca Thomas driving forward our Legal 500 ranked team from our City of London office. The nationwide firm has built up an excellent reputation for securing favourable outcomes for clients, including high-value settlements. The team has particular expertise in achieving excellent results in fatal accidents, public and employers’ liability claims and asbestos disease cases. It also acts for children and adults in a multitude of claims arising from negligent medical care, such as neonatal, paediatric, neurological and neurosurgical cases. Duncan Lewis’ clinical negligence team is recognised for its specialism and viewed as “excellent… and experienced in handling a spectrum of matters including brain, spinal, and neurological injuries”, by the independent legal directory, The Legal 500 UK 2019-2022 editions.
