A certificate of sponsorship is not an actual certificate or paper document, but is a unique reference number, which holds information about the job and the migrant’s personal details.
Once you and your company have been granted a sponsor licence, you would need to apply and subsequently assign a Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) to the migrant worker you employ, which allows them to make their visa application.
These certificates can be either ‘Defined’ or ‘Undefined’. Whether a certificate is ‘Defined’ or ‘Undefined’ will depend on various factors such as the salary offered, the position and the immigration status of the migrant.
Our dedicated Skilled Worker (formerly known as Tier 2) team at Duncan Lewis can advise you on the appropriate certificate required.
