I am a Caseworker in the Public Law team at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, based in the City of London Office. I assist in public law matters with a particular focus on a variety of judicial review claimant matters raising human rights, detention and immigration and asylum issues, and I am accredited to take on various immigration matters under legal aid. I currently work under the direct supervision of Solicitor Maria Petrova-Collins and Director Toufique Hossain.
Since joining Duncan Lewis in August 2024, I have assisted in a major public law challenge involving the plight of asylum seekers who were unlawfully detained on Diego Garcia (the largest island in the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT)). I have assisted in a number of judicial review challenges, in both the UK Administrative Court and the Supreme Court of the BIOT, concerning efforts to relocate our clients to the UK and the applicability of the UK's Early Release Scheme to the BIOT. The case has been covered in the press, including BBC News, Channel 4 News and the Guardian.
Prior to joining Duncan Lewis, I undertook pro bono work as a Casework Support Volunteer at Southwark Law Centre where I assisted in providing representation for homeless hospital patients in their immigration matters, including drafting ECF cover letters, immigration fee waiver applications and conducting both country and legal research work.
Other pro bono work I have undertaken includes my work with UCL's Public International Pro Bono Project where I helped produce a brief for Redress on the prohibition of torture in the context of dissent in Brazil, India and Nigeria.
