I am a Director of Family and Child Care Law at Duncan Lewis Solicitors having joined the Firm in 2024 and am based in the Cardiff and Swansea offices of the Firm. I qualified into Family Law in 2010 and have practised and gained knowledge in all aspects of Family Law and now specialising in both public and private Children Law matters.
Since qualification I have represented parties of all ages, abilities and backgrounds with my practice centring around cases which involve Social Services/Local Authority where children are removed from their families and can be at risk of being placed in either foster care and/or adoption where these cases are Most commonly are funded by legal aid. I am able to also accept instructions for private children law disputes which commonly occur between parents and/or guardians as well as on many occasions grandparents regarding matters relation to residence and contact issues. These are predominately privately funded cases however if eligible I am able to assess whether your case can be funded via legal aid. I am also able to act on behalf of client's in domestic violence and abuse cases where injunctions/non-molestation order are needed to be obtained.
I am valued by my client's for having an honest, non-judgemental, direct, down to earth and empathetic approach and I have been directly sourced and in turn instructed by client's across both Wales and England especially after having practised and picked up skills and knowledge from other legal communities like that of Bristol, Leeds, London and Swindon which is testimony to the hard work and dedication I carry out on behalf of my client's. I strive to fight hard on behalf and give a voice to all of my clients irrespective of the circumstances they find themselves in or the reasons why.
I am currently the Immediate Past President of the Cardiff and District Law Society (2022-2023) and have been the Society's EDI officer since 2020. I sit on the Wales Committee for Show Racism the Red Card Wales after becoming a volunteer of the Charity in 2012. In order to help the younger generation and be at the forefront of helping the future and social mobility I have completed six years as an Independent School Governor in Cardiff and I am now a Governor at a local Primary School in the Vale of Glamorgan. I have also guest-lectured and taught law students at The University of South Wales. Also, I sit on the South Wales Resolution Committee which enables me to keep up to date with family law training and updates. As I am a firm advocate in social justice and I have previously held and hold legal clinics within the local community of Cardiff, at domestic violence agencies as well as prisons; this is to ensure that my legal knowledge and skills are able to help the most vulnerable and marginalised in society seek access to legal advice and justice.
