Cases can be traumatic and difficult for everyone involved. I have experience in assisting on cases with clients that have been victims of domestic abuse. I am able to use an empathetic, sensitive and detail orientated approach to my cases and clients.
I can assist and deal with the following in respect of domestic abuse matters:
• Non-Molestation Orders (urgent/non-urgent basis) – These orders can be obtained as a means of protecting victims of domestic abuse. The Order prohibits the abuser from molesting the applicant. It also protects the applicant from threats of violence, harassment, and abusive messaging such as text messaging or messages via social media.
• Occupation Orders (urgent/non-urgent basis) – These orders allows the Court to decide who should live, or not live, in the home or any part of it. The Order can also exclude the other person from an area around the family home.
• Child arrangement Orders- this order regulates with whom a child is to live, spend time or otherwise have contact, and when a child is to live, spend time or otherwise have contact with any person. Each Child Arrangements Order is decided on the circumstances of the individual family and on what is in the best interests of that particular child.
• Prohibited Steps and Specific Issue Orders - A Prohibited Steps Order is an order which prohibits a party (usually a parent) from a certain activity relating to a child(ren), and which also prohibits a party from exercising their parental responsibility. The type of activities that can be prevented include:
- Removing a child from school;
- Changing a child’s surname; or
- Taking the child out of the country (on holiday or permanently).
• Specific Issue Orders- is an order granted by the family court often involving a decision being made over children where parents with parental responsibility cannot agree. It is also known as a section 8 order.
