Sophie Burchett

I am a Solicitor within the firm's City and Luton offices, specialising in both public and private law children matters and representing children, parents, grandparents and extended family members in a wide range of matters. I am a member of the Law Society's Children Panel. I am also a Resolution trained Family Mediator (all issues).

I have experience of representing both parents and subject children on applications involving vulnerable children, both within care proceedings, and within stand-alone applications including for Deprivation of Liberty orders or Secure Accommodation orders. I am regularly instructed by an appointed children's guardian, to represent the subject child, and also have experience of representing the child directly in the event they are deemed competent to instruct me directly.

Legal aid is available in relation to most deprivation of liberty applications and I am able to advise on and secure funding for the same.
