Profile / Experience

I am a Solicitor within the Public law and Immigration department. I have conduct over various cases including immigration and asylum matters, appeals, human rights, bails and judicial review cases.

My judicial review workload has consisted of working on litigation in matters such as unlawful detention, removals to European countries under the Dublin Convention, removals on asylum and human rights grounds including various other challenges against decisions made by the Secretary of State for the Home Department.

As an accredited Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (IAAS), I am able to represent highly vulnerable clients including victims of torture, victims of trafficking and victims of domestic violence. My work further extends to working with detained clients and those with other forms of physical and mental vulnerabilities. I also have experience dealing with cases which have progressed to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

I am very committed to ensuring my clients receive the best standard of care and representation in their legal matters.

Testimonials

  • "I have pleasure in stating that I have a high opinion of Arouje's general character and capabilities. In my view, Arouje has a practical mind, as her case preparation suggests. Her court bundles are well organised and her written work is always of a good standard, making clear and light reading. When reading her written instructions, she has an eye for detail and identifies the right issues. She is diligent and her case preparation is precise and to the point so in my opinion is deserving of praise. In terms of her general organisational and communication skills, Arouje keeps me, my chambers, the court and the Home Office well informed of any developments in cases. On occasions, when I have requested that certain steps should be taken on a case, Arouje has taken direction well and has proved to be enthusiastic in her approach. Her research skills are impressive, she includes relevant and up-to-date materials in the supporting paperwork. I am happily able to say that Arouje possesses a genuine commitment to her area of law, namely asylum/human rights. I know this from her work with me but also because of our conversations." - Ishtiyaq Ali, Chartlands Chambers
