There will be changes to the Tier 1 (Investor) Scheme for all new applicants applying from 29th March 2019. The changes include: applicants being required to establish that they have held the investments funds of £2 million for at least two years (as opposed to the previous 90 days) and investments in UK Government Bonds are no longer being permitted.

Transitional arrangements will continue to be in place for applicants who entered the scheme before 29th March 2019 and the same rules will continue to apply to them for extension applications until 5th April 2023 and until 5th April 2025 for settlement applications.

If you are a high net worth individual seeking to invest in the UK, under the Tier 1 Investor visa you must establish the following:

• You have access to £2,000,000 which is held in a regulated institution; and
• The money is under your control and disposable in the UK.
