Rubin Italia was interviewed by LBC Radio to discuss the extension of the legal scheme under which anyone can ask for convicted criminals sentences to be extended. As it stands the current scheme allows these requests to be made for criminals who have been convicted of crimes such as sexual offences, robbery and crimes involving fire arms. However, it is being extended to terrorist related offences. Rubin explained that the scheme is particularly important for victims who feel that sentences have been too lenient. He argued that it is central to our justice system that victims concerns are right at the forefront of the legal process. By allowing victims of crimes to question sentencing it gives empowerment to people who are dealing with the consequences of others actions on a daily basis. Listen to the full interview below:
