On November 1st 2010, Duncan Lewis had a training contract monitoring visit from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). The allocated auditor visited our Harrow branch, and interviewed Desmond Corlis, Duncan Lewis Training Officer, along with a sample of our existing trainee solicitors. In addition a review of Duncan Lewis’ existing processes and documentation was conducted as part of the audit.
The visit proved very positive – Duncan Lewis was complimented on the current arrangements. It was noted that there was no forthcoming suggestion on how these could be improved.
The final report included feedback collected from the interviewed trainee solicitors and referred to the programme on the words of a Trainee Solicitor as *is*“very good training and brilliant place to have been given an opportunity to do my training contract”. *ie*
Noemi Ares-Birch, HR Director at Duncan Lewis comments *is*“Duncan Lewis is pleased with the outcome of the trainee audit and is delighted that the SRA have commented on the high standard of training and support we provide to our trainee solicitors. We have always endeavoured to maximise training opportunities, extending these to welcoming trainees on secondment from external bodies (Crime Prosecution Service and Shelter). Duncan Lewis is unique in our commitment to social welfare and provides exposure to a number of areas of law rarely seen within a high street practice. Our existing Solicitors, Partners and Directors participate in ensuring that trainees benefit from high quality supervision, effective processes and receive support throughout their training programme. Supervision, access to regular training, coaching on-the-job and effective mentoring is all fundamental parts of training to be a solicitor. Duncan Lewis is proud to provide these to all of our trainees.”*ie*
