Duncan Lewis is thrilled to announce the return of family and child care solicitor Navpreet Virk, who originally joined the firm in 2015 as a newly qualified solicitor.
Extensively experienced in all areas of her field, Navpreet spent four years with the firm in our Leicester and Luton office before moving to Manchester to take up a Head of Department post with another firm.
After recently moving back to her home city, she got in touch with her old team at Duncan Lewis, who were only too happy to welcome her back into the fold.
Navpreet said: “Had Duncan Lewis had a base in Manchester in 2019, I would have asked for a transfer but that sadly wasn’t the case, so I joined another firm.
“When I have recently returned home to Leicester, my first thought was to contact my old director, Krina Parmar, to see if there were any vacancies and I was delighted to hear she was happy for me to return but also gave me the opportunity to work closely with her to develop the new Duncan Lewis office in Peterborough.
“I missed my old colleagues and enjoyed the culture at Duncan Lewis, so it feels great to be back working as part of the family and child care team again.”
Navpreet regularly acts for clients in cases involving care, supervision, emergency protection and adoption orders, child abduction and wardship matters, non-molestation orders, occupation orders, child arrangement orders, parental responsibility agreements, FGM protection orders as well as divorce and financial relief matters.
She routinely acts for parents in care proceedings but also has experience representing children (through their guardians), regularly dealing with cases relating to serious non-accidental injuries including death of a child, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, emotional and physiological abuse.
Navpreet is an experienced advocate who represents both publicly funded and private clients and is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Advanced Family Law scheme. She is also fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.
Navpreet is re-joining our acclaimed family and child care department, headed by 17 expert directors. The department is well recognised by independent legal directories, The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, with 6 family and child care teams ranked across England and Wales, and numerous solicitors honoured with ‘Recommended Lawyer’ and ‘Next Generation Partner’ status.
