A teenager from Liverpool that terrorised local shoppers as the leader of a 30-strong gang has been given an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) and ordered to stay away from certain parts of Birkenhead or risk further punishment.
Sixteen-year-old Kieran Scott caused criminal damage and intimidated people on 36 separate occasions last year during his reign of terror. Wirral magistrates heard on Friday that he created scenes similar to a “New York ghetto” by setting off fireworks and abusing community members.
Ali Bayatti, prosecuting for Wirral council said: “The behaviour details incidents of verbal abuse, intimidating behaviour, causing criminal damage, throwing things and harassing people passing by.” The court also heard that he appeared to be “enjoying the chaos” after a fire hydrant was set off in central Liverpool.
Stott, who was also warned about his attitude in court, has now been handed a three-year ASBO that will prevent him from meeting several friends in public and visiting certain areas of Birkenhead unless he is on public transport or accompanied by a parent.
Cllr George Davies applauded the work done by the police, family housing associations and the council to cut down on nuisance individuals. He said: “I hope this successful court action sends the message loud and clear that such alarming and distressing anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in Wirral.”
