Sheffield Council’s Environmental Protection Service has prosecuted a Sheffield resident for fly-tipping, after bags of waste were found dumped on parkland at Cammell Road in Sheffield.
In April, a member of the public witnessed two men leaving a car and dumping four or five bags of waste in the park.
The witness took down the car registration details and passed them to investigating officers at Sheffield Council’s environmental department. The officers traced the vehicle owner and he was interviewed.
At Sheffield Magistrate’s court, Nabiel Ullah, 25, of Vickers Road in Sheffield pleaded guilty to knowingly causing the deposit of waste in April 2015.
Ullah was fined £170, ordered to pay costs of £200, a criminal courts charge of £150 and a victim surcharge of £20 – a total of £540.
After the hearing, a spokesman for Sheffield City Council said:
“Once again, we thank the magistrates for their support in keeping the city clean.
“Fly tipping is a serious offence – and the council will not hesitate to act against those who spoil our city.”
