Police are investigating a serious sexual attack on a student at the University of Kent at Canterbury in the early hours of Saturday (07/12/13).
KentOnline reports the 20-year-old female student had spent a night out at a club called The Venue and was returning to her student accommodation at the time of the attack, estimated to be around 2am and 4.30am on Saturday morning near Park Wood Road.
The victim was found on a pathway between The Venue and Parkwood Halls at the University by a member of the public, who called for help.
Police say the victim was in a “confused state” and had been subjected to a serious sexual attack thought to be rape.
Head of the investigation DC! John Holl said that police are currently following several lines of inquiry.
“At this stage we are not ruling out the possibility that the victim may have known the suspect – but it is important that we are able to piece together the events of the evening and I would ask anyone who may be able to help us with this investigation to come forward," he said.
“We have seized CCTV and have cordoned off the area to allow forensic evidence to be gathered. We are also working closely with the University Campus Watch.”
