Nottinghamshire pair given ASBOs (28 January 2014)

Two people from Nottinghamshire have been issued with anti-social behaviour orders (ASBO) after they repeatedly verbally abused local members of the community, a court heard on Monday.
Thirty-four-year-old Paul Glenn Turner and 33-year-old Lisa Marie Young, of Alfred Street in Kirkby, caused a nuisance to neighbours by issuing death threats, swearing and shouting consistently over a seven-month period between March and October 2013.
The pair's reign of terror, which led to them brandishing a metal bar weapon on one occasion, forced two families to relocate to other areas in Mansfield. Magistrates at Mansfield Magistrates' Court have now given both Young and Turner two-year ASBOs after hearing overwhelming evidence about the incidents.
Councillor Andrew Davidson, Environment and Community Protection portfolio holder said: “These individuals have undertaken a series of anti-social, threatening and intimidating acts within the district of Ashfield, which could have placed members of the public in real danger. I hope this will send out a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
Young and Turner are now banned from using any abusive, insulting or threatening language towards residents in the Kirkby area and communicating with a list of named individuals. The pair will also be unable to engage in any conduct that is deemed to cause harassment or distress to locals. They will face further charges if they breach any of the ASBO conditions.
