Fees
Attendance at the Magistrates Court for non-trial hearings such as for pleas and case management will be charged at £700 plus VAT.* This is a fixed fee for services we will deliver in preparing for this hearing, taking initial instructions, attending with you and representing on you on that occasion.** It is reflective of the work involved and the seniority of lawyers who will be dealing with the case.***
Magistrates Court Trial fees
The work required to prepare for a trial will be different in every case. We can only accurately quote trial fees after the initial hearing stage. However, our professional fees for a summary trial will ordinarily start at £2,000 plus VAT.
Disbursements/Extensions
In the event that the case involves work beyond the aforementioned service plans, such as further hearings, instructions of experts or external counsel, or novel/complex issues, we will advise you fully of the implications of this and prepare an updated service plan tailored to your needs setting out the additional expenses and your various funding options.****
*For Court locations outside the M25 this price could rise to a maximum of £1000 to reflect additional travel time/costs.
** As per industry wide practice we will require fees for any hearing attendance to be lodged in our client account in good time. An invoice will be tendered on completion of the service and we will settle our fees for money held on account. We reserve the right to withdraw service where fees go unpaid.
*** A lawyer of at least grade A will be assigned to oversee your matter, assisted as required by junior staff.
****Work outside a fixed fee service plan will be charged in line with the Solicitors' Guideline Hourly Rates, published on the gov.uk website. Crown court and appeal work is bespoke priced on enquiry.
