I joined Duncan Lewis in October 2022. I am a Solicitor Advocate Crime department, operating from the City of London and Harrow offices.
I previously worked for a number of years in a specialist criminal defence practice in West London and have built up a wealth of experience in criminal defence work. I am both a duty solicitor and have full Higher Rights of Audience, and have represented clients at all levels of the criminal process, from advising at the initial police station interview to court proceedings in the magistrates and crown court, all the way through to the Court of Appeal.
I have enjoyed many years of success defending in serious, lengthy and complex jury trials both as junior and lone counsel. I work hand in hand with colleagues in the criminal team to provide a joined up service to our clients in terms of litigation and advocacy.
My practice extends to extradition law (assisting persons accused or convicted of offences overseas and who are requested to be returned to another country) and to prison disciplinary matters. I have undertaken training in Understanding Autism and have a particular interest in safeguarding those with autistic spectrum disorders, who often face additional difficulties when coming to the attention of the criminal justice system.
In addition, I am licensed to practice in the British Indian Ocean Territory – it is thought I was the first criminal defence lawyer to have travelled there to represent a client at trial, and am certainly one of only a handful ever to do so.
