Duncan Lewis, Legal News Solicitors, West Bromwich Landlord Fails To Evict Polish Tenants

A West Bromwich landlord is set to face a lengthy court battle to evict a Polish family that have refused to leave her house at the end of their tenancy. The homeowner claims that a Polish woman, her boyfriend and young child have failed to leave the two-bedroom terrace in July, at the end of their tenancy. The landlord claims that the family has been “manipulating” the law and that local housing groups have been advising the family to remain in the property.

According to Sandwell Homes, which helps to deal with rental problems, tenants do not have to leave a property solely because they are requested to do so by the landlord. The landlord, who owns two properties in West Bromwich, is keen to return to the currently occupied home to reside near to her ill elderly mother, who lives in the property next door. She claims to be paying a mortgage bill of £500 per month but has failed to receive rent from the Polish family since the start of July.

The landlord is said to be starting an online petition demanding the Government to take action to protect landlords’ rights against tenants who remain in properties when their contracts are not renewed.
