A teenage girl has died after crashing a hang glider during a training flight, police have said. The incident, which occurred in Ashbourne in Derbyshire, is currently under a joint investigation by Derbyshire Constabulary and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary claimed that the hang glider had plunged to the ground while partaking in a training exercise at Darley Moor. The 16-year-old girl, who was piloting the hang glider, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham shortly after the crash but later died from her injuries. The police are working in conjunction with specialist air accident investigators to determine the precise cause of the crash.

A spokesperson for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch claimed that two expert investigators had been working at the crash scene. The glider is believed to have been transported to the AAIB headquarters, based in Farnborough. The crash occurred at an Airways Airsports operated airfield. Airways Airsports declined to comment on the incident.

Duncan Lewis’ team of personal injury solicitors can represent clients and their families seeking compensation claims following an accident or injury. The department is able to instigate two types of compensation claims: general damages claims and special damages claims. The majority of claims can be settled in the absence of instigating lengthy legal proceedings. However, in the event that court action is the only way in which a client is able to receive compensation, a team of expert solicitors can instigate proceedings in a fast, efficient manner.
