A North Wales man has been handed a three year jail sentence following admitting to robbing a pub in the early hours of August the 17th. Carl Adrian Nicholas, from Wrexham, was one of three men who raided the Squire York pub in Wrexham. Mold Crown Court heard how Mr. Nicholas and his two accomplices covered their faces with scarves and approached the pub as it was closing in the early hours of the morning. Employees Kate Waters and Tracey Cannell were grabbed and forced back into the pub upon leaving after their evening’s work. One of the raiders grabbed the key to the safe and ordered the two women to lie down on the ground while more than £42,000 was collected from the safe. The raiders also stole some of the women’s personal belongings. When the men had left and Miss Waters felt it was safe to move, the panic alarm was pressed to alert the police to the incident.

Judge Niclas Parry told the court that Mr. Nicholas was one of three men who had watched the pub in the early hours. Mr. Nicholas had a previous record and previously served a four-and-a-half year prison sentence for violence. Mr. Nicholas pleaded guilty to the raid. The court was informed that the two other robbers were yet to be caught.
