Duncan Lewis, Legal News Solicitors, Lancashire School Teacher Acquitted Of Sexual Assault

A Lancashire schoolteacher was been acquitted of sexual assaults on pupils. The Preston Crown Court jury took just 20 minutes to clear Peter Wilson of touching and kissing young girls indecently. Mr. Wilson was acquitted of 11 counts of indecent assaults relating to five different female pupils. Earlier in the hearing, he was acquitted on three further counts of sexual assault relating to another female pupil.

Mr. Wilson, 35, was forced to live apart from his wife and baby for eight months due to the ongoing legal investigation. Mr. Wilson was also required to have a social services official present during the birth of his son. He was suspended from the school in which he worked after two of the pupils told another teacher at the school that he had sexually assaulted them.

Mr. Wilson denied making inappropriate contact with the pupils and claimed that the touching, which amounted to a clasp on the shoulder, a pat on the back or a hug, served as encouragement to the pupils. Mr. Wilson informed police that four of his accusers lacked confidence in their abilities in class and required praise. He described his job as a caring profession and said that all of the claims were falsified and were “probably malicious”.
