A drug dealer in Manchester has been jailed for four years, after a police raid on his city centre flat uncovered cocaine, heroin and £10,000 in cash.

Manchester Evening News reports that Michael Taylor, 38, of Potato Wharf in Castlefield, Manchester also had in his possession a £900 Tag Heuer watch and a receipt for a £7,000 Rolex watch.

Police executing a search warrant at the property on 5 December 2014 also found a 25 gram block of amphetamine in Taylor’s freezer, with an estimated street value of up to £250 – as well as two bags of heroin with a street value of £240 and seven grams of cocaine said to be worth £700.

Inside Taylor’s wardrobe police officers found two pairs of gloves covered in white powder – and the cash worth £10,000 hidden inside a dry-cleaning suit protector. A total of £500 in cash was found in a kitchen cupboard, with a jar of loose change worth £369. Officers also found a receipt which suggested Taylor had paid £4,000 in cash for six months’ rent.

Taylor had at first denied the charges, but later pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of class A drugs, with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.

Manchester Crown Court heard that Taylor had a string of previous convictions.

He had been jailed in 2005 for five years for dealing crack cocaine – and was also jailed for four years in 2010 for wounding with intent.

Jailing him for four years, Mr Justice Openshaw told Taylor:

“The drugs found are comparatively small in quantity – but the sum of money, £10,000, and receipts found strongly suggest someone who has experience dealing drugs and had a significant role in street dealing.”
