A Stockport father has been arrested by police on suspicion of murder after allegedly stabbing a burglar to death. Police were called to the property following reports that two men had broken in. Officers arriving at the scene found a man, believed to be in his 30s, who had sustained serious knife injuries. Paramedics and attending police officers provided the suspected intruder with first aid but he died at the scene shortly after. The second suspected intruder is thought to have fled the scene in a white Citroen van.

Thirty-nine-year-old Vincent Cooke has been arrested on suspicion of murder. According to police reports, the two men had entered Mr. Cooke’s property and threatened him. Mr. Cooke was at home alone at the time of the attempted burglary. His wife and their son returned shortly after the attempted break-in yet escaped from the scene unhurt. Neighbours have been left shocked by the incident.
Chief Superintendent Tim Farber claims that a team of detectives are carrying out an extensive investigation and vows that all the resources available to them will be used to establish the full facts surrounding the case.
