Residents have been evicted from their Derbyshire home following complaints from their neighbours about criminal activities.

Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court granted Amber Valley Borough Council permission to evict the residents of the house in Broadway, Heanor, after the court was told that residents made the lives of others in the locality miserable.

The hearing was told that neighbours were subject to overt drug dealing, intimidating and violent behaviour, noise and an overall increase in crime in the area.
Neighbours of the evicted residents reportedly lived in constant fear of violence against themselves and their properties.

The council, in partnership with the Derbyshire Constabulary applied for a closure order on the property following failed attempts to stop the issues.

Under the terms of the court order, Future Homes Group – the housing association that rented out the property – will repossess the house. Amber Valley Borough Council and the Derbyshire Police said they hoped the property’s closure would “enable the local community to return to normal.”
