A Lancashire mother has had her house raided by burglars, who stole a number of items including the birthday presents of her sick son. Stacie Smith returned home to discover that the back window of her home had been smashed and the entire house “trashed” by the intruders. Birthday and Christmas presents that she had bought in advance for her two youngest children had been taken by the thieves, including clothes, shoes and a Nintendo DSi. The burglars also stole two five-month-old Staffordshire terriers and an Xbox belonging to the family. The 19-year-old mother-of-three has described the burglars’ actions as “low”. Miss Smith claims that one of her son’s has been left heartbroken following the theft of the dogs.
Miss Smith’s three-bedroomed semi-detached Preston-based home had been the target of thieves in the past. However, nothing had been taken previously. Miss Smith said of the theft that she feels like she is being victimised. She thanked her neighbours however, Carly Swain and Craig Martin, who bought a replacement Xbox for the family. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police confirmed that the burglary had been reported and urged anybody with information to come forward.
