We are delighted to announce that Gemma Lynch has won a well-deserved promotion to the role of director within Duncan Lewis Solicitors’ City of London Immigration department. Gemma joined Duncan Lewis as a caseworker at the height of the London Olympics in 2012, qualifying as a solicitor in April 2015, and now has more than 10 years’ experience in all elements of immigration, nationality and asylum law. Working at the heart of our City of London team, Gemma has dedicated herself to representing the most vulnerable people in society. Over the years Gemma has built up a strong practice in public law judicial review claimant matters and is accredited by the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Law Accreditation Scheme as a supervisor and senior caseworker. She specialises in complex immigration detention cases, as well as challenges to the Secretary of State in respect of asylum application delays and challenges to local authorities and their age assessment decisions. Throughout her time with Duncan Lewis she has gained significant experience in representing asylum seekers from Afghanistan, from unaccompanied children to high ranking Afghan officials, and frequently assists clients from Eritrea, Iran and Syria with asylum and human rights cases. As an experienced advocate, Gemma also represents many of her clients personally in the First and Upper Tier Tribunal of the Immigration Chambers across the London and South East circuit and has had much success on appeal, particularly on behalf of victims of human trafficking and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. Gemma comments: “I am excited to start the next chapter of my career with Duncan Lewis as a Director and I will continue my fight for the most vulnerable in society.
