Sandwell Council in the West Midlands has completed the refurbishment of a landmark 4,000th home, as part of a £50 million package of repairs and improvements to 6,000 council properties.
The home in Coleridge Road in Great Barr has benefited from nine new double-glazed windows, plus improvements to the roof and central heating system. The house has also had new electrical rewiring and external wall insulation fitted.
The internal improvements package is being carried out for the council by three construction partners – Lovell Partnerships, which completed the landmark 4,000th home, as well as VINCI Facilities and Wates Living Space.
The £50m council house refurbishment scheme began in March 2014.
Councillor Paul Moore said:
“I am pleased to celebrate the 4,000th property to have received internal improvements since Sandwell Council started its latest investment programme in 2014.
”The reaction from tenants is extremely positive, as the programme is not only improving people’s homes but the quality of their lives too, which is worth every pound the council is spending.”
