Property tycoon “heading for one of UK’s largest divorce settlements” (20 August 2015)

A property tycoon worth an estimated £200 million is facing one of the UK’s largest divorce payouts, after separating from his wife of 18 years.
The Daily Mail reports that Andy Ruhan, 52, also sits on the board of Formula One.
It is reported that Mr Ruhan separated from his wife Tania Richardson-Ruhan, 47, last year, after Mr Ruhan moved out of the couple's £4.8m home in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire and the couple began divorce proceedings.
The Sunday Times reports that the couple’s divorce settlement has been delayed because Mr Ruhan is being sued by former business partners over a share of the profits from the sale of 37 Thistle hotels in the mid-2000s. However, the case is not due to be heard at the High Court until 2016.
Mr Ruhan went into property after founding and selling a data company supplying banks with data centres – he now owns the four-star Cannizaro House hotel in Wimbledon, southwest London, as well as a South African game reserve and a company which lays cables on the ocean floor, Global Marine Systems.
In her divorce petition, Ms Richardson-Ruhan alleges her husband became “emotionally distant” and “detached from the marriage”.
Divorce papers show that Mr Ruhan’s total assets are £8.3 million, with an annual income of £214,000.
It is unclear what percentage of her husband’s assets Ms Richardson-Ruhan will be seeking.
A spokesman told the Sunday Times that the divorce is a “private family matter” – and that it would not be appropriate to comment further.
Mr Ruhan also declined to comment.
