I am a Director and Solicitor in the Child Care team at Duncan Lewis.
I have worked in family law since I qualified as a solicitor in 2002, with experience in all proceedings involving children. I have specialised in representing parents and children in care proceedings for over 20 years and have been an accredited member of the Law Society's Specialist Children Panel for 17 years.
I have represented parties in cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal. I have extensive experience of dealing with cases involving the following issues:
- Serious injuries to children
- Child deaths
- Complex medical evidence
- Factitious illness cases
- Cases involving a foreign jurisdiction
- Cases involving parallel criminal proceedings
- Parental mental health
- Parental substance misuse
- Domestic abuse
I am also able to advise parents and other family members before any court proceedings have begun, where social care is involved with their family because of child protection concerns.
I am passionate about parents and children being robustly represented in proceedings brought by the state. I am approachable and always provide honest advice in a way that is easy to understand. I know that my clients come to me at what is likely the hardest and most stressful time of their lives, and believe that quality legal representation can make a difference.
