Oskar Butcher

I am a Solicitor in the Public Law and Immigration department, having joined the firm’s City of London office in September 2021 and qualified as a Solicitor in September 2023.

My work incorporates a wide range of public law matters, predominantly in the field of immigration and human rights. I have extensive experience representing highly vulnerable clients including victims of torture and human trafficking/modern slavery, as well as people lacking mental capacity.

I have particular experience in complex appeals before the Special Immigration Appeals Commission ('SIAC'), including representing clients deprived of their British citizenship on grounds of alleged involvement in serious organised crime and in the interests of national security. I have also worked on a number of challenges to government policies regarding the UK asylum system.

• D5, D6, and D7 v Secretary of State for the Home Department [SC/176/2020; SC/177/2020; and SC/178/2020] [2023] - Representing two appellants and one applicant before SIAC in their challenges to the Secretary of State's decision to deprive D5 and D6 of their citizenship, and to exclude D7 from the UK, on the grounds of conduciveness to the public good.
