Profile / Experience

I joined Duncan Lewis Solicitors in March 2022 and was warmly welcomed into the Action against Public Authorities team. During my first year with the firm, I have developed my knowledge and understanding in this legal practice area, and am keen to continue to expand my knowledge and expertise in order to provide the best service and support to our clients. I have been handling a number of different claims, including false imprisonment, data protection breaches, assault/battery of police or prison officers (use of excessive or unreasonable force), negligence, as well as Human Rights Act claims and breaches of the Equality Act. Further to these areas, I have also worked on inquests in my first year here at the firm, including the inquest into the Plymouth shootings that recently concluded in February 2023.

Prior to my role here at Duncan Lewis, I spent over two years working in child abuse litigation claims. I therefore have previous experience in civil litigation, and in historic claims regarding abuse of children within the care system, as well as within an educational setting. I believe it is important to hold public authorities accountable for their actions, and to try and prevent further wrongdoings and ill-treatment happening to others.

Alongside my role in abuse litigation, I also have experience in handling claims under the Windrush Compensation Authority, and assisting those who have been let down by the societies in which they live. Formerly, I worked in family law, and so have an understanding of the workings of the Family Court and social services, including applications and assistance up to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

I have spent many years assisting on cases which are very sensitive and in which comprise a wide range of clients, some of whom are very vulnerable or have a mistrust of any authority figures or establishments, which must be handled with care. I hope to continue to assist the team in helping clients with obtaining information relating to the death of a loved one, or achieving the best for clients in respect of any human rights claims or claims for damages under a civil claim.
