I was appointed as Director of the Family and Child Care department based in the Birmingham and Luton offices in November 2021.
Although I deal with all aspects of family and child care matters, I primarily deal with public and private law proceedings, including care proceedings, non-molestation orders, occupation orders and child arrangements. I undertake the majority of my own advocacy and represent children through their guardians, parents and other family members. I have also represented parents in the High Court in wardship proceedings and child abduction matters.
Over the years, I have built up significant experience in dealing with cases involving forced marriages, honour based violence and female genital mutilation (FGM)
I am committed to working in the legal aid sector and undertaking pro bono work, whereby I regularly attend pro bono clinics with local domestic violence agencies and refuges. I am currently a volunteer at the pro bono family law advice clinic in conjunction with Birmingham City University and I am a mentor to students at the University of Law.
