Sophie's Deprivation of Liberty Applications Profile / Experience
I am a Director in the Family and Child Care Department at Duncan Lewis and am ranked and recognised by the Legal 500 as a specialist in my field for Child Care.
I regularly represent children in respect of Deprivation of Liberty (DOLS) applications either within existing care proceedings or as stand-alone applications. Given the shortage of placements for children who require specific limitations on their liberty there is an increasing need for the use of the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court in order for a Local Authority to be authorised to deprive a child of his or her liberty. I am committed to ensuring that the voice of the child is heard in respect of such a significant interference in their life and that their best interests are at the fore front.
