Sophie Burchett

I am a Solicitor within the firm's City and Luton offices, specialising in both public and private law children matters and representing children, parents, grandparents and extended family members in a wide range of matters. I am a member of the Law Society's Children Panel. I am also a Resolution trained Family Mediator (all issues).

I have extensive experience of working with vulnerable clients, including those with learning difficulties and mental illness. I have been instructed by the Official Solicitor where the client lacks mental capacity to conduct proceedings and requires the assistance of a litigation friend. My work also covers matters related to children with physical, mental and learning disabilities. I also have experience representing children on applications for Deprivation of Liberty, heard within the High Court and involving vulnerable clients and complex issues of law.

Legal aid is available in relation to Court of Protection matters within family law and I am able to advise on and secure funding for the same.
