I am a Director and Solicitor at our Leicester office specialising in all aspects of Family Law and Children law Proceedings. I especially undertake work, which include;

- Deprivation of Liberty Orders
- Secure Accommodation Orders
- Court of Protection Orders
It seems that due to the limited availability of secure accommodation placements there has been an increase in Local Authorities making applications for a deprivation of liberty. This has led to the opening of a dedicated court in London to handle the high volume of these applications. In my experience I have represented parents, caregivers, and children in these complex proceedings, and I have the specialised expertise to handle all aspects of these cases which often require involvement from the High Court.
Further, there are circumstances where a child has reached an age where a secure accommodation order is not possible anymore. Instead, court of protection proceedings may be initiated to address placement matters. I have the specialised skill to handle the two areas of law with care and sensitivity.
In certain parts of the UK, there is an increasing presence of trafficking, modern day slavery and exploitation including sexual exploitation, within the family court system. I have the necessary experience in handling cases that involve human trafficking and modern-day slavery, particularly within the family structure. I approach these cases proactively and with the sensitivity, offering vulnerable clients the opportunity to review and analyse evidence before court proceedings. I provide clear guidance on the necessary steps to protect the child’s best interest.
Over time I have built up experience advocating for both parent and children in cases where radicalisation has played a significant role in the removal of children from a parent or caregivers custody. This is often due to concerns about physical, emotional and psychological harm that a child may face as a result of their own involvement or the involvement of a parent or caregiver.
I appreciate that these are very sensitive matters for clients and therefore ensure to make the process as smooth and as straightforward as possible by providing as much support and expertise as possible, whilst being pro-active in the running of the case.
