The family of a 90-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s Dementia has instructed Duncan Lewis Solicitors to support and represent them, after their relative experienced heavy-handed police treatment during her detention. One officer targeted the 90-year-old woman with a Taser device. She was handcuffed and a so-called spit hood placed over her head, when the Metropolitan police restrained her, before she was transported to hospital, secured to a gurney in an ambulance. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the incident. The family has asked that all media enquiries be directed to Duncan Lewis Solicitors in the first instance. Experienced Claims Against Public Authorities director and solicitor Graeme Rothwell and caseworker Christine Dela Cruz have been instructed by the family to represent them.
